We operate under a unique model of avocational stewardship. This means that no one in our mentor group is pulling a regular salary through Varsity Mentors. Instead, while our mentors do receive a-la-carte remuneration for individual activities, we do what we do because we feel a strong conviction that we need to steward the next generation of leaders simply because we need to do it, regardless of pay. So the vast majority of all donations we receive simply gets reinvested into the vision.

What do we need? Glad you asked. Here's a list...
-
Each reading mentor for "Let's Read Together!" receives a $50 gift card for extended dialogue through a book or a collection of picture books.
-
We pay for the food mentors eat as they stay at a Varsity Mentors house. We also contribute to the living expenses. It costs $300 to sponsor a mentor for 1 month.
-
Gridball works best as a math camp during the summers. We want to pay our assistants $200 for helping during the two-week camp.
-
We would like to offer Gridball scholarships for certain elementary-school students. The cost of each sponsorship is $200.
-
We pay our picture-book readers $50 for each recorded film recording of them reading a book.
-
Oceanline Ads costs about $170 to mail a month.
-
We maintain several websites associated with our mentors and platforms. The estimated annual cost of this is about $500.
-
While our directors do not receive a salary, we do like to offer the three directors an annual gift of $2000.

If you feel you would like to help with these expenses, we would be happy to talk with you. Before we accept, we want to make sure you understand exactly what you would be giving to, so we insist on first having a conversation. Please contact the current director to start the dialogue.
